After high school he joined the Marine Corps where he served for 4 years including 13 months in Viet Nam. His unit was presented with several medals for successful operations on the battlefield. After leaving the Marines, he attended and graduated from Falls College with a Degree in computer programming. He disliked working inside and left computers for the construction field. Over the next 35 years he built over a 800 homes and townhouses, and also constructed highway bridges, culverts and retaining walls in the state of Georgia. He worked on various rock quarries for Vulcan Materials, Davidson Minerals and Martin Marietta for the process of rock crushing. Jim is married to his wife Pam, in April for 43 years, and they have 2 grown sons, with 3 children between them.
